Faucet Repair and Replacement

One of the most annoying sounds is that of a dripping faucet. Whether it is a leaky kitchen faucet, bathroom or lav faucet, or a shower valve, a licensed plumber can quickly diagnose and fix the problem.

Leaky faucets can be caused by parts that wear over time, such as the seat, washers, or stems. Other hardware such as a worn handle or faulty supply line might also be leaking. Most of the time, the worn part can be replaced and the repair is minor. If the parts cannot be replaced, a new faucet may need to be installed.

Thankfully, these minor replacements are handled easily by most plumbers who keep the standard tools in their service vehicle:

  • Basin wrench
  • Stem remover
  • Socket set
  • Seat wrench
  • Seat dressing tool
  • Handle pulled.

If the repair requires a new faucet, or if it is just time to upgrade to a new model, make sure to consider a few factors that will help ease installation. First, take a good look at the current faucet or holes drilled for one in a new sink. Measure the dimensions of the faucet and notice the number of holes for multiple handles.

In kitchens, there are additional considerations. Is there room for a sprayer if you desire one? Should there be an instant hot water converter? Is the filter compatible with the current system? If the new faucet is different in any of these dimensions, it will be harder and more costly to install. Next, evaluate brand, color, and trim to make sure it will match the style of other fixtures in the room. There is a wide variety of styles and price points in faucets to meet each person’s needs.

When it comes to a leaky shower, the plumbing is often behind the tile. This makes it harder to access the pipes and harder to diagnose the problem. Allow the professional to assess the situation first to avoid larger repairs. When contacting the plumber try to provide what type of piping is used, and whether the faucet is a single or double handle. Due to the more extensive nature of finding the leak and making repairs, shower repairs are often more time-consuming and more costly.

A licensed plumber will make sure that the leaky faucet is repaired correctly the first time and meets all plumbing code requirements. We have only licensed plumbers on staff.
